✎Korean Restaurant Review✎ : 5 Korean restaurants in The Netherlands

The last few years Korean food is getting more popular and more and more Korean restaurants are popping up in the Netherlands. Here are 5 reviews of Korean restaurants in the Netherlands. Some good and some bad ones!

Mr. Bap – The Hague ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆

Mr. Bap is a cute small Korean restaurant in the city centre of The Hague, so it’s great to

stop by after some shopping or sightseeing. Because it has few seats, it’s difficult to come and dine with a big group of people. The staff is friendly and the food is fresh. The owners are Korean and the food has a home cooked meal taste to it. They also offer several vegetarian dishes and a variety of Korean beverages.

Kimchi House – The Hague ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆

At Kimchi House in The Hague you can order from the menu or choose for ‘all you can eat’. I would recommend choosing for ‘all you can eat’, especially if you’ve never tried

Korean food before. You can try many different dishes for a cheap price and drinks are included! It’s fun to try the Korean BBQ and grill your own meat. I would not recommend ordering spicy rice cakes (떡볶이) at this place, since it tastes like rice cakes with ketchup. The last time I ordered bulgogi (불고기), the marinade was tasty but it didn’t taste like bulgogi at all.

Kim Da Lai – The Hague ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆

Another place in The Hague where you can try Korean BBQ is Kim Da Lai. I went here 1 and a half years ago when it was fairly new, so I don’t know if there have been any changes. I heard there is also an ‘all you can eat’ option now. At the time I wasn’t very impressed with the menu and food wasn’t very special. I liked their kimchi jjigae (김치 찌개) , it was rich and tasty. Above the tables there are smoke extractors so it doesn’t get too stuffy in the restaurant.

Bim & Bap – Maastricht ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆

This small restaurant in Maastricht opened its doors this year. It’s a cosy place with a nice interior. The food’s presentation was on point but unfortunately the food tasted not as good as it looked. The small dishes we ordered tasted nice (Mandu/ 만두 & Korean fried chicken/ 닭강정), until I found a piece of uncooked chicken… My friend ordered bulgogi with ‘spicy’ rice cakes (떡복이). Once again it was tasty, but it was not what she ordered. Also, I overheard from another table that the staff didn’t know what soju (소주) was, he said he wasn’t sure but thought it was Korean beer.

Kimchi – Aachen (DE) ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

This restaurant is just outside of the Netherlands in Germany, but it’s a good alternative for residents living in the southern part of the Netherlands. The restaurant is nothing fancy as it’s all self-service, but the food is delicious and the staff is friendly. There are few seats and it can be packed on the weekends, so come early! When you order bibimbap (비빔밥), it comes along with a bottle of sauce so you can decide how spicy you want it to be. I have been here several times and I introduced my family and friends to Korean food by at this restaurant.
